Academic Training Institutions

Academic training institutions that offer diplomas or degrees are required to follow an academic training curriculum that focuses more on the theoretical side of the subject with only very limited practical training provided, especially in the first and second year of studies.

Academic training institutions teach students primary just from setwork books, their classes are very large (100 plus), cram as many students into a practical lesson or studio as possible and call this 'hands on training'.

They generally only teach 1 or 2 software packages and have very limited hardware, especially when shared between hundreds of students.

They occupy the student's time with arbitrary theory and unrelated subjects that the student does not need to know in order to perform their required duties, but sure fills up the time during the day. (A good reason why it takes 2 to 3 years to complete).

Generally academic institutions have as much as a 50% drop out rate in the first year, mainly due to the student getting very frustrated and/or bored by the lack of progress.

Their lecturers are generally ex students with very little or no industry working experience, it’s academic, so the lecturer does not need actual working experience. (Does a science teacher need to be a scientist first in order to teach science? … you know the answer to that question … NO)

After 2 to 3 years the student  receives a diploma or degree that very few industry pros acknowledge due to the fact that the student has very limited ‘hands on’ practical training. Generally academic institutions tell their students to find the additional practical training required by approaching companies and asking them to provide this training. 90& of the time this approach fails, as not many companies are that generous or have the time to train students.
After all, shouldn't the training intuition that is being paid to teach provide all the necessary training, theory and practical.
